Finnick and Annie 2 Ch. 6

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MOCKINGJAY SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

~Selia~

That alarm must've backfired. The siren went off and the base went into panic, but so did our building. I grabbed the remote, grabbed Jabe and ran out. My legs were pumping like pistons. I had to try to stay concentrated to know where to turn. He has to correct me a few times, but I know that either way, we're trapped. I know we come to a dead end when we run into a barrage of soldiers. They aren't armed.
    A huge advantage.
I grip my trident and run. Jabe pulls out his pistol, ready to fire.
It's an easy victory. I've been training with a trident since Finnick made it for me and I know so much now. The vital areas, disarming, everything. Whoever I only have time to disarm, Jabe takes out with his pistol.
As soon as we're done with everyone, I look down at my trident. Every time this happens, I get that same feeling I got 5 years ago when I killed the man who tortured me.
Jabe has to drag me out of the hallway and down to the exit door. We finally leave and fly away in the hovercraft.
I spend most of my time studying the remote. The blackout button intrigues me. Maybe if we get any word from the base, we'll press it. The rest of the time I spend studying the map. There's a small red mark around District 10. I try to figure out what it means. There's no key or anything, so we'll have to find out for ourselves.

3 weeks pass and we keep close watch on the monitor in the unknown room. They're still in panic mode, but it's quickly fading. I'm starting to think about the extra measures we should take. Jabe and I are back at the abandoned apartment building. We're going over what we have.
"The remote and the map are our best assets. We're going to need more if we're going to infiltrate that base." Jabe looks over the map again.
"Here," I say, pointing at the red mark. "Did you notice that?" He looks it over very carefully for a long time.
"What do you think it is?"
"I don't know." I look again. "We need to go back to that building and find something else that will help us. Then we could find out what this is." He nods, then goes over to the couch. He must need to think, and I walk over and sit next to him. I start to think, but soon drift off and fall asleep.
I'm still in his arms when we wake up.

My eyes are still closed, but I can feel Selia wrapped up in my grasp. It's kind of nice. I just hope she feels the same way. She seems to like me, but I can never be sure.
I open my eyes. She's looking at me, but quickly pulls away. She stands up to grab her trident and the remote. I stand too, and grab my gun. We need to head back to the building before we go and find out what the red mark in District 10 is.

The building comes up in the horizon in less than an hour. We quickly head into the room. Nobody is inside again, and hopefully our visit won't last too long. I dig through a few drawers and stray boxes while Selia takes the other side of the room.

Nothing of use shows up in my drawers. Just before I give up, though, I find something that could be of great use.
It's a remote almost identical to the first one, but instead of multiple buttons, it has four smaller buttons and a small monitor. The buttons are labeled 'Camera-Next', 'Camera-Previous', 'Zoom In', and 'Zoom Out'. I turn it on and see the same base come up. I take another look at the top. 'SR 009' is on the top, just like the first one. I'm just about to tell Jabe, but he pulls me out of the door. A few voices start to drift down the hall, and I follow. We make it out, unseen, and fly back to the apartment. Jabe turns on the autopilot and turns to me.
"Okay," he says. "What did you find?" I pull out the monitor remote and switch it on. The fuzzy, black-and-white picture shows up. His expression remains blank.
"Don't you see?" I shove the remote closer to his face. "This is how we'll be able to see what's going on in that base. Now, we can know what's going on wherever we are! Now we can look for that red mark in District 10 and still see the base!"
His eyes widen. "Seriously? This is amazing! We'll leave in the morning. We just need to create a diversion and we'll make our way there." I nod, and Jabe turns his attention back to the sky.
Sorry i didn't get one up last week!!! Super busy!!!
